A live recording of the 'Taco Boy' himself mixing it up at Double Fisteds 'Thunder Box' on Jan 23rd 2010 in the bowels of the 19th st movement in the OC , Califorina.

Seriously though, this be a nicely done warm up set featuring some discoey balearic soft rock jams with a smooth bluesy/psych rock feel, feel like makin love is what you're gonna feel.

In the meantime Coats is busy making babies for his wifey Jen (congrats to my besties on that one!) and has beats coming out soon with a 12" on Hole In The Sky Records from down unda (Canyons dudes label) and a remix of our GBB friend and Bison eating music man MUDD coming out on Adult Contemporary sometime in soon in 2010...

I’m stoked that my friend and co-conspirator in the big disco takeover we are all secretly planning….. DJ Garth aka ‘G ’ took some time out to bust this quickie for us boys here at GBB by giving us his ‘Top 5’ favorite spots around the globe to cold rock the party!

If you’re reading this blog you probably know a little bit about the West Coast ‘disco’ scene and G is a pioneer/founder/ruler of all the things in this arena from his epic run with the famous Wicked crew and now Back2Back with Jeno and many kick ass projects in between. ‘disco’ a term that gets thrown around way too much lately for all the wrong reasons (mostly cuz it’s the new cool word for DJ’s and party promoters to use as hype even though nobody be playin disco???) but believe your ass G is all about the discorock and has been for years, even before it was ‘cool’. I know because he’s been an inspiration and driving force in all my crews starting with Smartbeat back in the early 90’s holding down a regular spot at many of our events through out the years, we definitely couldn’t have done it without him.

Hearing his funky, psych rock, roots/dub infused cosmic disco/ house sets/productions have been a thread in the fabric of my personal and musical journey for most of my adult life as well as many of you. He has played for countless dance floor happy peeps at all the best venues any house DJ could ever imagine playing from Japan to Philly, from LA all the way to the UK! Bringing us back to our item of interest here, the best spots he has ever played records ….anywhere!

DJ Garth is all about the Green Butter and current projects include his bad ass edit label ‘Golden Goose’ out of San Francisco with his partner in cut up crime James Glass who happens to be another secret weapon in the disco army out of SF….

Mr. Murphy was kind enough to step away from his Bison herding duties(he makes a killer bison jerky, ask him bout it next time you see him)for a bit to give us some GBB love.
I asked him for a "Top 5" chart of his choice and he intermediately sent back his Top 5 beers list! So right then I was reminded why I have a serious man crush on him at the moment (shut it Scotty Coats, I will fight you)... he loves weird spacey disco and beer like the rest of us.
This and the fact that he had just put out one my favorite singles of the year as Drago (Mudd & Ahmed Fakroun w/ a nice Brennan Green mix too) on his acclaimed cosmic milky way of dubby disconess label Clairmont 56 .
